We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a preliminary heat to the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition virtually on Wednesday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. The event is open to all graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from all departments, faculties and graduate programs to present their research in a short competition.

Each graduate student and post-doc will have three minutes and only one static slide to present their research to an audience from all academic backgrounds. The winner of the UTM 3MT competition will advance to the semi-finals at the St. George campus.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three presenters:
Graduate student 1st place prize – $300
Graduate student runner-up prize – $100
Post-doctoral fellow 1st place prize – $100

We encourage all graduate students and post-docs to participate, earn valuable experience and add on to their CVs.

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with UTM’s Health and Counselling Centre and Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre to bring you an event with guest speakers and panelists to discuss a topic that affects many graduate students – imposter syndrome. The event is on Wednesday, November 25^th from 5 to 6:30pm.

The GRC is being held again this year on Tuesday, April 30th for posters 4-6pm in the New North Atrium and Wednesday, May 1st for talks 9am-6pm in IB150. Make sure to seize the opportunity to let the UTM community know what you’re working on and learn a little about other work. There will be refreshments and hors-d’oeuvres during the poster presentations and a dinner with awards following the talks. You will need to register using the following link: https://secure.utm.utoronto.ca/grc-2019/ (Registration links are found at the top of the page)

This year, the Associate Dean, Graduate Office will support free poster printing. Please email copy.utm@utoronto.ca for printing your poster.

 Oral talks should be 12 minutes and an abstract submission is required for all presentations. Abstracts are due Friday, April 12th by 5pm.
